Shedding more light on the crucial determinants (i.e., joint actions and neuromuscular coordination) of LR strategies would require surface electromyograms (i.e., a reasonable indicator of net motor unit activity). 8 This approach may inform us about the implementation of ‘compensatory strategies’ to dissipate impact forces efficiently and maintain treadmill running velocity constant despite acute fatigue within the neuromuscular system.
